Monasteries in the region include Vrontisi and Valsamonero. The famous Agia Triada (Holy Trinity) and Gortyn, where the Phaistos Disc was found, are also of great historical interest. Every Friday and Saturday, a bazaar is held in Timbaki and Mires and in the nearby villages of Kamilari and Pitsidia you can really get a taste of remarkable Greek culture.
